This week is a great time of year to reflect on life and the people in life that I'm are thankful for. My list is long of people who have helped make me who I am, inspired me to become better, and encouraged me along the way. But who am I the MOST thankful for? To whom do I owe everything?

My answer is simple. I am thankful for Jesus. Without Him, I am nothing. Without Him, I can do nothing. Without him, I know nothing. Without him, I have nothing. Without him, I would not be a good husband, a good father, a good son. Without Him, I would not be able to take my next breath, see my next sight, speak my next words, or think my next thought. Sounds a little extreme, you say? I say not! He is my way to relationship with God the Father. He is my escape from the tortures of hell, my entrance into the wonders of eternity in heaven. He has set my life in motion, and by His grace, mercy, love, and blood, He allows it to continue one heart pulse at a time.

In HIM, I am the righteousness of God. In HIM, I can do ALL things. In HIM, I walk in wisdom and knowledge. In HIM, I have all things.

Thanks be to God who has given for me, his one and only precious son, Jesus.

WEiRD

We are starting a new series November 9th called "WEiRD (Because normal is not working)". This is going to be an awesome series that will challenge us all to walk a life that does not look like the world.

God wants us to live like Jesus. But the more like Jesus we become, the weirder we will get. If we really want to give our lives to God, then people are going to think we're weird. The choices we make, the values we have, the way we spend our time and money, even the way we think and talk will be different from everyone else. We are not supposed to be like the world. We are called to be different - set apart, holy. Jesus did not die on the cross so we could go on living like everyone else. Be different. Be like Jesus. Be Weird.

Connect - One God, One City, One Hope

Come join us for this amazing youth worship night. Several youth pastors from the local Erie area have been meeting for a few months getting to know each other. The more we talked we realized that we had one thing in common (and it was not our denomination). It was that we wanted to break down the walls of our churches and join together to worship and serve as one CHURCH. This is the first event that will Connect students and leaders together to begin to forge relationships and partnerships so that we can join together and serve our community. Don't miss this event.

Man Up!

I recently read a CNN article that gave statistics about how men are disconnected from their families and our culture is prolonging adolescence. It gave a stunning statistic that 18-34 year old men spend more time playing video games than 12-17 year old boys. Wow! It said that women are taking the place of men in many areas. At the end of the article it challenged men to "Man-Up."

Seriously...CNN just told us to man up!? It is time that we, as the church, begin to take the lead in this area. The media is constantly bombarding young men with a skewed view of what a man looks and acts like. Shows like Modern Family, According to Jim, and even back to Married with Children portray men as fumbling idiots with zero leadership, lack of intelligence and a total disconnect from their family.

In Acts 2, it talks about how the local church "did life" together. They ate together, worked together, and fellowshipped together. Men, it is time to Man-Up and begin to live according to the example set by the early church. It is time for us to push back against this sad stereotype being broadcast by the current pop culture. We are able to lead. We CAN meet the emotional needs of our families and be fully engaged in those relationships. We have what it takes!! We are not perfect, we may struggle, but we never give up. We are fearless and tireless. We are able because of Him who strengthens us!!!

There are 3 things I think we can do right away to begin taking back some ground.

1.Find a Timothy - Just like Paul, we need to find someone that we can mentor - speaking encouragement into their life. This may be one of your kids, a young person in your family, church, or neighborhood, or just someone that seems like they need some help. We all have a story - areas of struggle, victory and strength that can be used to lift up someone else.

2. Find a Paul - We all need someone in our life to mentor us - helping, encouraging, and lifting us up. We all have areas in our lives that could use some outside wisdom and revelation. Stop worrying about what people think and go find someone that can help you. Don't let your marriage fall apart, don't continue to stumble through the snare of pornography, don't drown under the pressures of work. We are ALL men. We ALL struggle with the same issues. It is only pride that keeps us from sharing them openly with another. Pride keeps us from "confessing our sins to one another, so that we may be healed." (James 5:16) Let's kick pride in the butt and get on with it....

3. Be real - As men, we usually don't like to talk about deep things. We want to talk about the weather, sports, and "man stuff." Talk about our marriage? Kids? Finances? Addictions? No way!! We feel like a failure if we couldn't "handle it" or "fix it" on our own. C'mon....let's say it together....PRIDE! No one can handle it all and fix it all on their own. Some of you are drowning out there but refuse to GET REAL because of pride. Let's get over it and get real. Then we'll see real victory over Satan, our enemy, in this fight for our families, our faith, and our lives.

We are warriors. If a warrior was wounded, but didn't tell anyone and tried to just patch it on their own, that wound would begin to get infected. Eventually it would ooze and puss and stink. Such a wound would quickly end up killing him because he chose to avoid proper treatment. So, be a great and mighty warrior, but get some treatment for your wounds. Remember the Word in James 5:16 says if we confess one to another we are HEALED.

Find a Timothy, find a Paul, get Real, get HEALED and MAN UP!

Handling the Crunch - Part 3

Create a Filter

People seem to have a problem saying no. They end up saying yes to too many things and before they know it they are over booked, over worked, over scheduled, and over tired. One thing that I found is that we need to learn to say "No" and stop making apologies for saying it.

Well, you might be asking, how do I know what to say no to? All the things I say yes to are important, critical, eternal, etc. Well, I challenge you to make yourself a filter. A filter is a list of questions that you can run any decision, event, or request through to help find the right answer for you. We all have priorities, but sometimes are lives don't always reflect them, because we get distracted by good things that take us away from our "top" things, or better things. A filter helps to keep your actions in line with your priorities. It keeps you focused, and keeps you from getting "off track."

Our family priorities are:
1. Being led by the Holy Spirit
2. Family time
3. Peace & Simplicity
4. Relationship Building
5. Healthy Choices (food, sleep, restful schedules, etc.)

For my wife and I we typically use the following questions:
1. Holy Spirit, do you have direction for us in this?
*We check our spirit for any input from the Holy Spirit. We try to be intentional about including the Lord in every decision that we make. Our time = our life, so we believe that God cares how we spend it!! All our other questions come after this one. This is the biggie for us!
2. Does it involve the whole family?
* It is a huge plus if we can all stay together....what can we say...we like each other and we like staying together.
3. Is it simple?
*We value peace and nothing keeps the peace like simplicity!
4. Does it foster relationships? Will this help build friendships, accountability, intimacy, etc.?
*Relationships are worth spending time on.
5. Will we have to compromise our digestive peace? Does this interfere with naptimes or bedtimes?
* Grabbing fast food is NEVER an option for us, and we consider quality over convenience when choosing our food. Sleep is essential to good behavior and strong immune systems in kids and adults. We are protective of our health, but not to the point of rigidity (that's why it's our #5 and not our #1)

This is our filter system. It works really well for us. Each person's filter will and should be different. You cannot adopt someone else's filter - it simply won't work because each family is different. We're not all supposed to be alike. Respect your own priorities by living them out through filters and respect others for doing the same....even if their filter necessitates them saying "No" to something you consider high priority! We are all created unique and have different talents, jobs, skills, families, etc.

So, go ahead and create a filter and start using it to help guide your yes to be a yes and your no to be a no. Start lightening your load and being intentional about what you take on by running it through your filter.

Handling the Crunch Part 2 - Be Where You Are

Distractions are everywhere!! My iphone, my andriod tablet, my laptop, facebook, twitter, sports scores, my jeep, and the list could go on and on. Distractions takes you away from what is right in front of you. This is a HUGE challenge for me. I am like the guy on the commercial that is changing the baby's diaper, while talking on the phone and surfing the internet. I know I am not the only one that struggles with this. God has been walking me through this with the little phrase "Be Where You Are".

Too often we miss the moment! We miss the birthday party (even though we are there) because our mind is somewhere else. Maybe we went to the other room to just "check my email" for a second and get lost for 30 minutes. Many of us are often somewhere else. We are thinking about tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, and missing what is right in front of us. If you get caught up in this, you will find that "time flies." The days and weeks and years are a blur and you can't seem to recall much. When you really focus on what is directly in front of you, when you are truly present and engaged in the moment, something wonderful happens. In our house, we call it "slow time." It is a fantastic phenomenon where the day crawls by, and there is lots of time for all that we want to accomplish and then some. We talk, play, work, and live fully engaged and fully together - focused on our relationships in the moments of the day, rather on the line items of our to do list. Funny thing is, the list gets done in the course of it all. Seems that God honors us when we put relationships first which is what "be where you are" is really all about!

Jesus' ministry focused on who was right in front of Him. He focused on the PERSON at hand. In Matthew, the Bible commands us to not worry about tomorrow. So let's stop thinking and worrying about tomorrow because God is already there. Let's start living in the PRESENT because it is a wonderful gift from the Lord.

Handling The Crunch Part 1 - Be Intentional

Ephesians 5:15-17 gives these instructions….
1. Be intentional about how you live,
2. Be wise,
3. Don’t mindlessly waste your time and opportunities,
4. Don’t be foolish,
5. Understand what the Lord’s will is.

Life is Busy!! Most days we go to bed and feel exhausted and wondering where the day went. With technology, work, school, sports, band, etc we never seem to have enough time to do it all, much less rest or “be still.” How are we ever going to be able to hear God’s voice, to be still and know who He is if we can’t even manage to make it to school or work on time! We can’t even remember what happened yesterday, last week, last month, even last year. It’s all a blur!

I don’t know about you, but when my life is over, I don’t want to look back and see a blur of iPhone apps, work schedules, and rushed conversations. I want to KNOW God. I want to recall tender moments with my wife and children. I want to relish close friendships that were of great value to me. I want my time to have made a lasting imprint. How do I plan to make this happen while handling the crazy crunch?? By following God’s Word in Ephesians.

Let’s pretend that at the beginning of each day, we’re all given 24 tickets – each ticket is one hour. We only get 24 hours to a day and there is only so much that we can jam into that time. We need to REALLY consider…Are we spending our time on those things that will leave a lasting imprint on life? Things that really matter to us and to God? Let’s break down how much time we really have….

Sleep – 7 tickets (at least)

Work/School – 9 tickets

Shower/Eat/Drive – 3 tickets

We’ve already blown through most of our tickets and we’ve done nothing but the bare essentials!! What we do with our few remaining tickets is how our life will be defined. This is the CRUNCH. This is where we need to be intentional. This is where we need to decide. These tickets are nonrefundable. They are precious. We need to choose wisely - choose relationships over tasks, choose to be together instead of separate, and choose to rest instead of push harder and do more. The way we spend those few remaining tickets will determine the course of our lives. This is important!! We need to PAY ATTENTION to how we spend our time, and make intentional choices that reflect our goals. Don’t let others tell you how to spend your time. Their goals are not yours. Be intentional!

So….24 tickets….1 life. I’m going to pay attention to how mine is spent! How about you?

Tear Down the Wall

We had a great service this past Wed night. The message I gave was called "Tear Down the Wall". It focused on how the Bible commands us to forgive those that sinned against us and when we do not we put up a wall. A wall between us and that person and a wall between us and God. Mark 11:25 says, "And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins". Wow. Offenses will come (Luke 17:1), but we must learn to forgive.

Forgiveness is the willingness to give up your resentment toward someone who has wronged you, regardless of how serious or painful that wrong might have been. In other words, you renounce any desire to get even. We can identify three elements to forgiveness: to give up resentment about the wrong; to give up resentment toward the wrongdoer; and to give up plans for retaliation. Forgiveness is more than just saying some words; it must come from the heart.

You may be saying, but you do not know what I went through. You do not know what happened to me. You are right, I do not, but God does. He promises to work all things together for our good (Romans 8:28), and tells us that we can do all things through Him who strengthens us (Phil 4:13). So go ahead and Tear Down that Wall and Forgive. It will not be easy and you may never "forget" but you can "FORGIVE"! And when you forgive it will bring freedom.

I end with this: Eph 4:32 - "And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you."

God Is Faithful

A shout out to all! It's been a busy past couple months. We just finished up Dave Ramsey's Generation Change series and I must say it was awesome. We all learned some valuable principles to being good stewards of what God has in trusted to us. He challenged all of us to be credit card free and how there is freedom in being debt free. Thanks to Camisha for heading up this series she did an awesome job.
Sunday we returned from the Blaze conference in Columbus Ohio. I believe it was one of the best conference we've been to. They did an amazing job teaching and equipping all of us to be relational and relentless in our sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with our friends and others around us. Awesome teaching, Great worship and amazing drama's was what packed our weekend in Columbus. The students were challenged to call or text their friends and share the gospel with them. It was all laid out for them to make it an easy call. Some prayed for their friends, some led their friends in the prayer of salvation but all called or text someone they knew to talk to them about God's love for them. It's Been A Long Time

Sorry everyone for not posting sooner this is kinda new to me. I am learning though.
Lot's of stuff coming up, tonight Don Weaver will be sharing his testimony of how God saved his life six years ago today. It's going to be good so don't miss it. Our Christmas party is December 16th with yummy stuff to eat and fun games to play. We will also have a few giveaways. No Decision on December 23rd but picking back up 0n the 30th with a special guest speaker. January is Generation Change class by Dave Ramsey which i am so looking forward to and then February is the Blaze conference. You don't want to miss out on this trip. I believe it is going to be a life changing experience for us all.
Well that's allot for my first update so I hope to see you tonight.

Hey guys, got a few exciting things coming up to keep in mind. Tomorrow night Paul Luciano will be speaking, make sure you are there cause it will be good!

This Sunday is going to be another volley ball day at beach 6! We had a pretty great time at the last one so come on out...bring your family and your friends and be ready for a great time.

Also coming up which is going to be incredibly awesome is a canoe trip on August 15! Its going to be a great time. We are going to Warren, Pa to canoe down the Allegheny River. It will be a 7 mile trip and we will stop half way to eat lunch along the river. We will have more info, a sign up sheet, and permission forms at the service tomorrow night. If you are gonna go then you need to sign up ASAP so we can get our reservation in.

Hey everyone! Sorry the blog hasn't been updated in a very long time...with Andy leaving and everything changing over its been a little crazy. The plan is to hopefully update once a week so make sure you keep checking back.

Tomorrow is our Waldameer day! It's gonna start at 11:00 am which is the time that Water World opens, Waldameer will open at 1pm. We're scheduled to stay until but your ticket is good until the park closes. We have a pavillion reserved where you can hang out and eat hot dogs so look for the signs and be ready for a great time!

time to Ripple Effect over our community!

Ever throw a stone into a calm pool of water? What happens? It makes ripples! It takes a dead and lifeless pool of water and brings life to it.

As Christians our lives are supposed to do the same thing. We live in a dead and lifeless world. Jesus came and stirred things up and then gave His disciples the same job. "Go into all the world and make disciples" - Mark 16:15-18. Jesus created a ripple effect that's not stopped to this day. Daily people are turning to Christ and receiving life.

The question is are you as a follower of Jesus making ripples? Are you bringing life to people? If you're not then Decision is where you need to be. The way we do it is by loving our neighbor as ourselves. So to help you start making ripples we are partnering with the City Mission this month to help love our community.

It's going to be a blast so don't miss it! You were created to do something Great! We will be starting early so be to Decision by 6:15PM

City Mission Youth Group Challenge

To kick us off for the summer we are jumping on board with the City Mission Youth Group Challenge. Here's the info:

What: City Mission Youth Group Challenge

When: All of June

Where: The surrounding neighborhoods around ECFChurch

How: The Youth Ministry that can raise the most stuff for the mission by weight will win.

Prize: A free Seawolves game for the entire youth ministry and free dinner at the park. We can also win a sweet Splash Lagoon day. They will be giving away a bunch more prizes.

Our Plan to Win
For the Month of June we will be going into the surrounding neighborhoods around ECF Church to collect items. We will start at 630PM so be to church early!

Wed, June 3 - we will pass out flyers letting people know what we're doing
Wed, June 10 - we will go back to the homes and collect
Wed, June 17 - Summer Getaway - no service
Wed, June 24 - Guest Speaker from the Mission/ Give our stuff

What's up Everybody!!!? I hope you had a great night last night at Decision. Paul Luciano rocked it out!

Understanding money and God's plan for it is vital! If you will follow God's plan He promises you will never have to live in poverty. When you give Him control and become a tither and a giver, He will open the windows of Heaven to bless you! God will give you knowledge and wisdom on how to use money, so you never end up in debt. It's that serious! It's that good! God is good and faithful always!

Next week is going to be a very important week, so please please don't miss Decision! And also don't forget Mother's Day this Sunday!!!

Tonight begins our Money Money Money series! We have a guest speaker, Paul Luciano, gonna be bringin it down tonight. You won't want to miss it.

Also we had a huge success on our Max & Erma's Fundraiser on Monday. We made a profit of 205$. Wooohoooo! Thanks to everyone who handed out flyers. Our next big restaurant fundraiser is May 28th at Chick-Fil-A! Lets keep up the good work!

Money Money Money!!!

May is our Money Month!!! Who doesn't like money? You can't really do anything without it. It's a major part of our lives. But if we're not careful it can become a master. Millions of people are bound by the desire to have Moooooore! Millions of people are bound by debt because they mishandled money.

This month we are going to explore God's side of the money issue. God created money and He has a specific way for us to live our lives with it, so that money doesn't become our Master. He has a way for you to be able to have money and be blessed as a teenager! That's right, you don't have to wait till you've graduated college and find a good job to be able to be a Master of Money!

To help pay for Summer Getaway 09, we have implemented some fundraisers. Some are to cover the cost of the trip, others are to help you pay for the trip. We need EVERYONE'S participation to keep the cost where its at.

Here they are:

Decision Luncheons
1. Sunday - May 17th - All funds will help pay for the total cost of SG09

Restaurant Fundraisers
How it works: We will hand out as many flyers as possible to our friends and family. Take the flyer to the restaurant on the appropriate day and the restaurant will give us a percentage of your bill. Flyers can be picked up at Decision for distribution. So if your going to eat out, eat at the following!

1. Buffalo Wild Wings - Mon, April 27th, All Day - 15% of your bill goes to pay for SG09

2. Max & Erma's - Mon, May 4th, All Day - 20% of your bill goes to pay for SG09

3. Chik-Fil-A - Thurs, May 28th, 5PM-8PM - 20% of your bill goes to pay for SG09

Rent-a-Teen
The Bible says if you don't work, you don't eat. We could translate it, if you don't work you might not get to go on SG09, so we've set up a way to stop that from happening.

With Rent-a-Teen, simply sign up at Decision and fill out the permission slip. Upon doing so we will find you work, from people in our church, who are willing to pay you to do it.

Very simple...You Work = You Get $ cha ching!

April 1st we are having a sweet event to kick off our April Series - I Pity The Fool.

We will be giving away 25$ to the winner of our I Pity The Fool Challenge to be announced that night.

We will be drawing the winner of the Don't be a loser contest to see who wins dinner and bowling!

And We will have an amazing Guest speaker named Kenny Clark. Many people will never believe in God till they hit rock bottom. You can have all the facts straight, but until we see a need for God people don't change. I guarantee his story will reveal God to you! Bring a Friend for sure!

We got a lot goin on! Summer Getaway is just around the corner, we have our April 1st Big Event, we have a mission trip available, and there is a bunch more comin! So check it all out and get involved. I've also added some new vids to check out.

Next week we will be concluding our Final Countdown series with a very special guest, our very own Don Weaver! He has an amazing story that will sure to inspire you. April Series - I Pity The Fool

The fool hath said in his heart there is no God. - Psalm 14:1

Mr. T coined the phrase...I pity the fool! The question is who really is a fool? The Bible makes it clear that a fool is someone who believes in his heart there is no God. Ever come across someone who said, "I don't believe in God." Or maybe they've asked you, "How do you know God exists?" Maybe you've asked yourself that question.

For the whole month of April we will be talking about God: Is there really a God? Is Jesus really the Messiah? And how do I talk about God and prove He exists. There's nothing wrong with questioning. It's when we choose not to believe truth when it's staring us in the eyes.

This month is sure to answer some of your questions and build your faith in who you believe in.

Summer Getaway 09

Summer Getaway is just around the corner! And I'm stoked about it. We will be doing something completely new this year. We are going to the New Jersey Shore for a week and doing our own Event.

Where: The Shores of the Atlantic on the New Jersey Coast
When: June 15-20

What to Expect:
This trip is not intended to be a vacation just because we are going to the beach. This is going to be an amazing time for us to get away as a youth ministry and hear from heaven. There are four goals for this trip!

1. To engage with Jesus and grow spiritually
2. To build our relationships with each other
3. To grow as a youth ministry and prepare to reach our community
4. To have a ton of fun doing it!

Guidelines and Necessities

Necessities:

1. Soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, beach towel, sun block and other personal items.

2. Clothing for 6 days. Casual, but not provocative. No short shorts, low cut shirts, or revealing tops. No tight fitting clothes.

3. Plastic bag for wet or dirty clothes.

4. Swimsuit for girls must be one piece or a tankini (belly must be covered)

5. Your Bible and a notebook.

5. You will need sneakers and flip flops or comfortable shoes.

6. Spending money for the boardwalk ect…

7. Snacks if you so desire.

Guidelines:

1. No girls and guys alone at any time.

2. No dating relationships will take place.

3. Your team leader must know where you are at all times.

4. No smoking, use of alcohol, or any other drug will be permitted.

5. No use of profanity.

6. No secular music. (This means anything that is not produced by a Christian record label.)

7. Use of cell phone is prohibited unless speaking to a parent. Phones will be left in rooms at all times.

8. You must obey your team leader at all times.

9. Let God change your life and have a great time!!!

What's up! I hope you all had a good time last night.

There was a lot we talked about concerning the last days. To sum it up though it goes like this: we are living in the last days before Jesus comes back and sets up His never ending kingdom. The world is going to turn completely against God. As it does a man called the Antichrist will rise to power unifying the world under himself as god. Because of this God's wrath will be released and a Great Tribulation full of unimaginable plagues will come upon the earth and man - Rev 6-19. The Antichrist will form an army and try to fight against God, but Jesus will come in all His glory, destroy the Antichrist and Satan, and establish Heaven on earth. At this time He will judge mankind based on our Decision to accept Jesus or not.

We also said before the Great Tribulation there would be a rapture of the Church...all of us who currently follow Jesus - 2Thes 2:1-8. 1thes 5:9 tells us God has not appointed us to wrath. He will remove us and take us from this earth to be with Him before that terrible time.

What does this mean? We need to be ready and seriously follow Jesus. The time of Jesus' return is not known to us. This means we must live each day like Jesus could return right now. How? By loving Jesus and building our relationship with Him and by loving the people around us. God has called us to love and make disciples saving people from Hell!

To go with this I found a sweet video of a Hero Dog saving another dog. Just like this dog, we must be willing to lay down our lives for others. Stay ready...watch the video!!!

The Final Countdown - March Series

It's the Final Countdown, the end of the world as we know it!!! Ever think about that? When is the end of the world going to happen? What and how is it going to happen? It's a big deal right now in the world we live in. Tragedy is happening all around us. Natural disasters are non stop. People are living in fear and worry about the economy. There are screams that we are running out of natural resources. Religious wars are being waged across the world.

This month we are going to look how it's all gonna go down according to the Bible. The Bible speaks clearly about what's going to happen. It also speaks clearly about our role in the Last Days and how we are to live. We will also look at the fact that tomorrow is not guaranteed us. Today could be our last day. How would you live today if you knew you were going to stand before God tomorrow?

We are in the Final Countdown of this age. The end is near. Are you ready?

Hope you had fun last night! Remember true love comes from God first. If this boundary is not set, any other boundaries you have in a dating relationship will weaken and fail. God must be our source of love first. Trying to find love in a boyfriend or girlfriend or anything else will always let you down, because human love without God is selfish. And even when we do have God, we aren't perfect. There will be times when they or we will fall short. Only God will never fail us. Let nothing take His place and He will take care of your relationships!

Help The Homeless / Make Adam Pink

Are you ready to make a difference?

Help the Homeless week is Feb 22-28, but Decision is going to make February, Help the Homeless month.

The City Mission serves lunch everyday and one food they serve a lot is Mac N Cheese. It's cheep and it tastes Great!!! So to help we are going to gather as many boxes of Mac N Cheese as we can. Now I don't want to just get 100 boxes or 300 boxes or even 500 boxes. I want us to raise 1000 boxes!

Why? Well first because there are thousands of hungry people in our community that need food and it's up to us as Christians to do it. There is another reason though. If we raise 1000 boxes our good friend Adam Lackovic will let us dye his hair HOT PINK! This is a win win situation, help the homeless and see Adam with PINK hair.

Hey Everyone! Hope you're all doing good.

Church has been canceled tonight due to lots of snow and terrible roads!!!! So stay inside and drink lots of hot cocoa:)

Before I let you go I have some announcements.

1. I'm going to the City Mission this Sunday, Feb 1st. I will be preaching and we are leading worship for the service there. We will leave the church @ 9:30am if you would like to go. This would be a great way for you to serve and help the homeless.

2. Feb 22-28 is Help the Homeless Week, but we are going to take the whole month of Feb to Help the Homeless. We are going to gather as many boxes of Mac n Cheese as we can. This is one Item the City Mission always uses.

If we can gather 1000 boxes, Adam L. will let us dye his hair HOT PINK!!! but only with a 1000 boxes. A box costs like .25 cents. I want to help the homeless and turn Adam Pink, so who's with me?

What's up guys?

Hope you are all doing real good. Just wanted to let everyone know I've updated our announcements as well as got some pics up from Winter Weekend 09. Click the link under the announcements. New music coming soon. Aaaand don't forget our Devo's.

I also want to encourage everyone with what we talked about last night. God is always engaging us and we can have a personal relationship with Him. To the place that we can know His heart, think like Him, act like Him, talk like Him. Our Father wants us to have his power and resources coursing through our lives. This is what sets our God above alllllllll others! We can know Him.

But for it to happen, we must take the time to engage Him. How? By taking time to read our Bibles and meditate on a scripture that sticks to us. Don't just read and leave. Read and think about the one thing that stuck to you. Then apply it to your life. If you don't get anything then use a verse that you know challenges you.

When you pray, pray from your heart. Talk to our Heavenly Father like you talk to people. Don't be rude of course. Hahaha! But talk to Him. Pour out your feelings and what your experiencing. It doesn't have to be fancy. Just real. Five quality minutes with God is better than an hour in prayer and only doing it to reach a goal. God's biggest thing is He just wants to be with You.

Take time each day and do this. Your relationship with God will go deeper and deeper. You'll become a life changer and you will never fail! Why because you are connected to Jesus and He never fails!

Redline is back! Time to take our journey with God to the max.

Starting Wednesday, February 10th we will begin small groups. Here's how they will work.

1. Every 1st Wed of the month will be a Decision service. This is for everyone, and will be a chance for you to bring a friend! This will kick of the topic for the month as well.

2. Every 2nd and 3rd Wednesday will be small groups. We will meet in the youth room and then break up into our small groups.

3.Every 4th Wednesday will be a flow night. We will have a longer time in worship, prayer for friends and schools, and communion. It's a time for us to really engage God in a deeper way as a youth ministry.

Get ready for deeper relationship building and to Engage God!

NEW CONTEST!!!

As Christians we believe the Bible is God's Word. Not just a book, but actually God's Word. Like if Jesus was to stand before you Words. And because it's God's Word, as Christians we need to read it and get it in us. I mean think about it, how are we going to become like Jesus if we don't know what He's thinking or how He lived? It's that important! It's so important that we should carry it everywhere with us. Especially to Church.

Many Christians don't bring their Bibles to Church. How weird is that? You wouldn't go to the store without your clothes or to a sword fight without a sword right? Then we certainly shouldn't forget our Bibles when we at least go to CHURCH. But many of us do.

OK so here's the contest.

Every teenager that can bring their Bible to church on Wednesday nights, will get a check mark next to their name. By April 1st, if you've brought your Bible 6 times you will get your name placed in a hat 6 times. On April 1st we will draw one winner from that hat. The winner will win a New Bible, a New Devotional, Dinner for them and two friends, and two youth leaders of their choice, and also get to go bowling!!!

So what does this all mean! BRING YOUR BIBLES TO CHURCH!!!

Are You Wearing Your Boundaries?!!!

This February we are going to be talking about love and dating and all that good stuff! And it is good stuff, but a lot of times in our lives our relationships can leave us feeling terrible. Much of it has to do with us not knowing what true love is, part of it is we get into relationships for the wrong reason, but the biggest reason is because we don't have boundaries.

God has created each of us to be in relationship and He has also set up guidelines or boundaries for us to follow in our relationship building. Just like clothes protect us from the elements of the weather, these boundaries protect us in our relationships. When we wear the boundaries it keeps us safe from all kinds of emotional and physical anguish, giving us more joy and happiness than we can imagine, but when we stop wearing those boundaries it can leave us in complete distress.

This month is not about NOT dating, but about how to set up boundaries in your relationships that will keep you safe and prepare you for your future spouse, all while having fun!

Serving Event - Senior Center

Hey Guys! We've talked about serving for this whole school year, so now it's time to put our money where our mouth is.

We've got an opportunity to go to the Barber Center Senior Center and hang out with some senior citizens. Some are physically disabled and some have mental retardation, but all of them love guests. On Dec 29th we will be going and playing games with them. It could be Wii or karaoke or some other game they have scheduled. Whatever it is, it will be fun and a chance for us to begin impacting our community.

We will be leaving the church on Monday, Dec 29th @ 12:30 and will return by approximately 3PM. Please plan on coming. There's no school, so it should work with most schedules.

I love Christmas!!! Always have and always will. I love the snow, the lights, the atmosphere, the Christmas movies, and the music. This is the time when people actually care about other people. The one thing I don't like about this time of the month though is the attitude that can come if we're not careful; "All I want want want for Christmas is..." It's attitude of selfishness and even pride. Satan fell from Heaven because he said, "I want to rise above the throne of God."

This month we are going to look at how to keep ourselves humble and in an attitude of giving; making this the best Christmas you've ever had!!!

Tonight is going to be a great night! We'll be wrapping up The Great Gamble and taking time to pray for our friends, Revolution Night, and the Election. Come ready to experience God!

I'm working on adding some new media stuff. I'm also changing the playlist and the way it works. The playlist which is being reworked will now have new music on it from new artists and/or new albums. Hey Everybody! Just wanted to let you all know I'm thinking about you and keep you in my prayers. God has amazing plans for you. This is something we must never forget. The moment we do is when our hope begins to fade.

Tomorrow Night is going to be great. We are going to talk about Betting it All - Following God for the long hall. Following God isn't easy and times get tough. Sometimes so tough you want to compromise or even quit on God. How do you stay the course. You're going to find out tomorrow. To get a head start read Hebrews 12:1-4. Be ready to engage yourselves with God.

Also be sure to check out our announcements. We have a lot going on and believe me when I say more is on the way. We've got some amazing things in store to propel you in your relationship with God and help you reach your friends.

Also I want to encourage everyone to get involved with this Amazing Bible Race. If you still want to do it, just leave me a comment. This is a great chance to read through the entire Bible and do it with a team. Having a team will keep you motivated especially as you do the challenges and quizzes. The Big 8 Challenge

The Bible is God's word to us. Therefore it is vital that we get God's word in our minds and hearts so we can think like Him, act like Him, and see ourselves like He sees us.

Here's the challenge. For 8 weeks we will have a scripture verse for you to memorize. Any student who can memorize The Big 8 Verses and quote it to a leader the following week, as well as quote all 8 verses the day of Wed, December 17, you will be placed in a drawing to win a FREE Winter Weekend 09. We will cover your $95.

So for instance October 8ths verse was Jeremiah 29:11. You will have to memorize it and quote it to myself or a leader on Wed, October 15th, the following week. Once again we will draw for the winner Wed, Dec 17.

Revolution Contest

Wednesday, November 5th is Revolution Night! The whole goal is to reach your friends and show you how to be a walking Revolution.

Here's the contest rules:

1. Girls vs. Guys

2. Whichever gender can bring the most 1st time guests will win free Ice Cream Sundays and a beverage of their choice for them and their guests.

3. The losing gender will not win anything. Not even be able to purchase it.

4. You don not have to bring only your gender. Girls can bring guys and guys can bring girls.

That's it. Pretty easy. Remember they have to be 1st time guests.
We have mini brochures for you to hand out as well.

Amazing Bible Race

What is it?
It's a nationwide race through the Bible over a two year time frame. Any Youth Ministry can join.

How does it work?
Any student who would like to participate will be placed on a team of 4-7 teenagers including an adult team leader. The Bible has been separated into 6 sections, so the race will consist of 6, 12 week legs. Each team member will purchase the field guide for the current leg of the race. Each day the team members will read the chapter(s) for the day and then follow up with the devotion for that chapter in the field.

After completing the reading for that day there are challenges, quizzes, and hurdles that must be completed to earn points for the team. some things will need to be completed as a team. Other challenges will be completed on your own time on www.amazingbiblerace.com. You will have a personal log-in to use the website.

Each week the team leader will contact each team member to follow up with them on their reading. Throughout the race the team will meet together to complete challenges.

The top 10 teams who have read the entire Bible and earned the most points based on quiz scores and completed challenges will win $500 for the mission trip of their choice or for a missions organization.

How much does it cost?
It costs $6 for each field guide. So $6 every 12 weeks.

What do I have to do?
Simply sign up to join a team, pay us $6 for the field guide, and commit to reading your Bible and completing tasks. This is no small thing. It's a real challenge.

When should I sign up by?
Now!!! We will start this race no later than the first week of November. Once we have everyone signed up we will contact you and make teams. Leave a comment with your name, # and email. I will not post it on the blog.

Nov Series Revolution

Want to start a Revolution? It starts this November at Decision.

Wherever Jesus walked He revolutionized people's lives. There was no question of the impact He had. His revolution is still changing the world.

As Christians He's given us the same ability revolutionize the people around us with His love, but have you ever gone to school and wondered, "how do I do it?" or "What do I say to my friends? How do I witness to them?"

This month is about how you can be a walking revolution. How you can be a witness for Jesus to your friends, without being weird. And how you can make an impact wherever you go!

We will kick this Revolution off November 5th with an amazing Decision Service. You'll want to invite a friend!

The theme for this year is Engage - Engaging our hearts with God. It sounds cool, but how many people really do it? This weekend your going to find out what it means and how to do it. And if you already do, then your going to go deeper with God than you've ever been. Are you ready to Engage?

Hey everybody! The Great Gamble went Great. I hope you all had fun! We had a salvation and four rededications to live for God! That is awesome! Also whenever you see our drama team, give it up for them. They did Amazing.

I will be updating the blog shortly with new announcements and videos. Hopefully with some videos from the night. Announcements to look for are Winter Weekend 09, The Amazing Bible Race, November's Theme, and a day at the Common Ground Youth Center.

Decision is gonna keep getting better and better, so keep serving and loving your friends. Don't feel bad if you invite them and they don't come yet. God is proud of each of you for taking the time to care about people.

Never Quit

What's up guys. I'm praying you all have a great week at school!

There are two things I wanted to mention. First, if you want to watch videos and click on the "Need something to watch video?" link you probably won't be able to. I think I have too many on there and they won't load right. They pause and have no sound. If you go directly to past posts with videos you won't have a problem. I'm working on getting it fixed.

The second is this. Never Quit in life! I woke up this morning and was just pretty discouraged. Everyone has those days. You might wake up tired, wondering about life. You could care less about school. Maybe your having family problems or friend problems. Or maybe you sinned and just don't know if you can ever change. Whatever it is, it can make you want to stop serving God or at least just for a little while.

My words to you if you ever feel that way are, "Don't Quit!" I opened my Bible and read Romans 6-8. These passages of scripture are amazing. Paul in chapter 7 talks about how he feels just like us sometimes. He just keeps messing up, not moving forward. He sees what he wants his life to be and can't seem to acquire it.

He goes on to talk about how we are dead to sin, and alive in Christ. In Romans 8:28 Paul says, "we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." That's you! Then in verse 31 he says, "What shall we say to these things. If God is for us, who can be against us." Paul wraps it all up with these words, "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. for I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." -vs 37-39

No matter what, God will always love us. He knows exactly what we are going through and feeling. He knows the temptations and struggles of this life. Satan wants us to forget that God loves us. When we forget, we fall farther. Don't forget and don't quit on God ever. Draw closer to Him. God allows these tough days to come for a couple reasons. It causes us to draw closer to Him, it allows us to see our need for a Him, and we get to see what we're made of. Are we really who we say we are? Christians!

For those of you who are doing awesome with your walk with God, look around and serve someone. Find someone who is down and encourage them. Help them. Be a friend. It can change a life forever. If you're having a rough day, be encouraged and draw near to God's love.

Ever been Gambling?

Maybe your thinking "No. I've never been to a casino," or I've never made a bet for money." Well that's good. I don't want you to lose money, but the truth is we all make a Great Gamble everyday.

One definition on Dictionary.com says gambling means - to take a chance; venture; risk. Gambling doesn't just have to do with money. It has to do with Risk. Risk with what? Another definition says to risk something of value for the chance of winning a prize. For instance something of value would be your life.

God says your life is valuable and He has an awesome purpose for it. The world promises the same thing. Each morning we make a Great Gamble by deciding to follow God or to follow the world. The reason it's a Gamble is because God says doing things the worlds way will destroy you, but following the His purpose for your life will give you eternal life.

Sounds like a no brainer right? Well it is, but it's not always easy to make the right choice. The Bible says sin is fun for a season. Many people choose sin over God and wind up gambling their life away. This month we are going to talk about God's purpose for your life and how to win this Great Gamble everyday.

Hey Everyone! Thanks for those of you who have joined the contest by leaving a comment. I'm stoked about the upcoming event Oct 1.

I wanted to remind everybody that See You At The Pole is tomorrow morning, Wed, Sept 24th @ 6:30 AM. I encourage everyone to go to your school flag pole and pray. Even if no one is there or your school doesn't do it. Prayer is key if any good change is to occur in your friends, teachers, or principals lives. This is one of the first steps to an amazing school year. You each have the opportunity to impact your world. If you can't get there that early, pray at home. Prayer works everywhere.

We will have a leader from Decision at Fairview High School. I will be at McDowell. There will be donuts and juice at McDowell at 7am. Hope to see you fellow McDowellnites there.
